NOTE:
Some of this may contradict what certain individuals concider canon. However, I've chosen to disregard STP, SNW, STD, and JJ Trek, so they have no bearing on my Trek works.

In the 25th century quite a few things have changed.

All major powers have greatly expanded their territories. The Ferengi and Gorn most of all; more than tripling their areas of control. Most of the other powers have more than doubled their territory.

The Romulans and Federation are now allied with one another. Though the alliance is fragile at this point. The Romulans struggled in the later 24th century but are now back on their feet as a major power.

The Cardassians are perhaps the weakest of the major powers. Their territory has barely grown. They continue to struggle after the governmental collapse near the turn of the century. Cardassians are still dealing with an economic depression. But they are moving towards a far more peaceful state. They have formed a new democratic government akin to the Federation. And Cardassia looks primed to return to it's former self as a peaceful artistic state.

The Ferengi have massively increased their area of control since the mid 24th century. Their power has also greatly increased; enough so as to have a fairly significant affect on the status of the area.

The Klingons are gaining influence and power and growing their territory. They have become more focused on honor but have found that it can be obtained in more ways then war.

Other minor powers have moved up in status as well. One such power is the Breen. They have begun an age of expansion. Their influence greatly increased. The Breen are now far more active in the local region.

The Gorn, a species not heard from much in the last century has come out of isolation and are dramatically increasing in power and territory.

Tholians, perhaps one of the most mysterious of the local powers, have also come out of hiding and are making themselves well known in the Beta quadrant and even Alpha quadrant. Their activity may mean the Federation and other powers need to be more cautious.

A new power has also arisen. A faceless enemy. One which has spent centuries in isolation. The Bahkon States. This territory is more of a loose alliance of waring factions whom do not have very high regard for life of any kind including their own. Very little is known about them out side the core of their area of control. However they are considered very dangerous. The Bahkone are driven by strong religious ideals and believe themselves to be extremely superior to any other race. It seems they have an especially strong dislike for the Federation and their ideals of freedom, tolerance, and peace.

I'm pretty sure the Romulan Star Empire dosen't exist anymore, it was pretty much shattered when the hoban supernova destroyed both Romulus and Remus. The remnants ended up dividing into two different factions, The New Romulan Republic, whom sought peace with and aid from their galactic neighbors, and the Tal Shiar, who sought to restore the former Empire
